As you winterize your home, it’s a good idea to give your pool and deck a little TLC too. After all, it’ll be several months before you’re able to use them again. So here are some tips to keep in mind as you prep your pool area for winter.

Tidy up
Prepping your pool area for winter starts with a good tidy. Disassemble any pool contraptions, put away cushions and pillows for the chairs, clean and thoroughly dry pool toys, and organize and store everything somewhere safe.
Winterize
Next, you’ll want to take steps to winterize your pool area. Be sure to drain your pool, clean the filters, balance your water chemistry, drain the lines, and winterize your skimmer. If you’re unsure how to do any of these things, there are plenty of videos on the internet that can walk you through the steps. Or you could hire someone to do it for you.
Pressure wash
Last but not least, as you prep your pool area for the winter, be sure you get both your pool and your deck pressure washed. Dirt and algae have no doubt built up throughout the warmer months, so now is a good time to get rid of it. You’ll thank yourself when next summer rolls around and your pool isn’t filthy. Just remember, not every pool surface can handle pressure washing, so be sure to consult an expert to help you determine what would be best for your pool specifically.
