If you’re ready to give your exteriors a fresh start but aren’t sure where to begin, check out our spring cleaning checklist! Which of these tasks will you tackle first?
Clear yard debris
Tree branches, overgrown vines, and leaves can make your property look cluttered and unkempt, which can hurt your curb appeal.
Start your spring cleaning by tidying things up outdoors and clear any debris that has accumulated during the winter months. Most trash services will pick up yard debris that is bagged, and you can always call and ask if they have a special service for larger items like branches and stumps.
Don’t forget to clear your flower beds of dead leaves, vines, weeds, and rocks. Add fresh mulch or fertilizer while you’re at it!
Fix broken features
Spring is the perfect time to spruce up the exterior of your home and fix anything that has fallen into disrepair. Here are some outdoor spaces you might want to check:
Mailbox: Does it need re-planting or re-painting? If it’s starting to lean or getting too old, you may need to replace it entirely.
Roof: Mend leaks, replace loose or missing shingles, and clean out clogged gutters.
Fencing: Repair or replace missing slats, patch holes, etc.
HVAC unit: Double-check for leaks that need patching.
Playground equipment: Make sure your child’s playground is still safe. Reinforce or tighten up broken beams, slides, and swings and dispose of items that are broken beyond repair.
Remember, maintenance is typically cheaper than replacement. The sooner you fix things that are broken, the less money you’ll spend in the long run.

Deep clean exterior surfaces
Just like the interior of your home needs dusting, mopping, and vacuuming, exterior surfaces need to be cleaned on a regular basis too. Over time, windows, gutters, driveways, walkways, porches, and decks can accumulate numerous unwanted pollutants. Thankfully, a good pressure wash can remove most algae, pollen, dirt, and leaves. Cleaning the exterior surfaces of your home will not only improve their appearance but lengthen their lifespan too.
